Advice needed - Is this handpan out of tune?

Hi Guys,

I know someone selling a prototype Aciel handpan (age unknown) in what sounds to me like E Dorian scale. He's sent me a video of it (he admits he's not a good player...) and to me it sounds like it doesn't 'sing' well and that there is at least one note (B) that has a strange harmonic overtone which I don't like the sound of. I'd love to get some of your opinions on it, does it sound right? Is it in tune? What do you think would be a fair price for it?

Well....for me....it doesnt sound pleasent to my hears at all but....as you say, its a prototype!! The new Aciel handpans are amazing!!!

I think you should contact the maker personally. He´s here on this forum by the name of In2Nation.

It seems that this is the 'touchesmysoul' (sha'yo's) Aciel ... It was sold for £300 about a year ago. It was bought for the same price by a busker in bath - who it seems has beaten it to death and is now trying to sell it for £950!!

This Aciel is only worth £200 max in it's current condition and maybe £350 after a good retune.

I already stated that even after a retune it's still only going to be a £350 prototype! (It is a particularly beautiful colour and pattern close up but always will sound relatively dull and lack vibrancy)

It has never been gigged, in fact it has been used in the home only. A reluctant sale as they are extremely hard to get hold of but I am focusing more on other instruments. Buy now price is £950. Happy bidding.
