Found: Gratitude

What have you lost ? What have you found ?

Found: Gratitude

Postby Marnamber » Wed Nov 02, 2011 3:09 am

I tend to be more emotional with animals and plants, when i see dogs/cats on the streets, not only looking for food, but just for a sign of compassion and love (and i usually try to pay them attention for some minutes, or to give em some food). It really reaches me. Maybe that is one of the main reasons why i`m vegetarian. Because i do stop for a second, and feel animal feelings.

Yesterday i was waiting for the bus at night heading to my girls place. And there i saw her in a tiny black wall-hole, shaking, growling at the feet of those who passed nearby ignoring her existance completely.
But i was there watching... i kneeled and approached her with my hand, it took a few seconds before she calmed down a bit and "meowed" at me.
Believe me, the expression in her eyes and voice was SO HUMAN, that when i picked her up i realised it was not just for her. She was afraid for her babies.

This kitty was about to explode, her belly was really full, and not with food. (In fact she was thirsty and hungry)

I brought her here, and waited a bit in the entrance hall. Exhausted she fell asleep in my arms.

Meanwhile i picked some food, water and an empty box with a sweater and placed her there.
It was not more than an hour after that she started working.

I felt a bit impotent watching there, cause i knew i couldn`t help her much.
But a (surprisingly silent) hour and a half later: T`DAH!

Miracle of life :D with no downs during or after the birth

It's been a full day and she is really happy. She does not "meow", but when i sit near her, she stretches her foot at touches me. It`s a matter of perception, but i think it`s a clear "Thank you" :3

Only bad news is that my tiny room is my "workshop"... and i won`t be able to practice for at least a month.
I have to find them a new home, as i cannot keep em. It'll be worth anyway ^^

wonderful story...goon on ya...

brings these to mind:

"If I can stop one Heart from breaking
I shall not live in vain
If I can ease one Life the Aching
Or cool one Pain

Or help one fainting Robin
Unto his Nest again
I shall not live in Vain."
Emily Dickinson

"The best portion of a good man's life,
His little, nameless, unremembered acts
Of kindness and of love." William Wordsworth

Beautiful and touching story! Thanks for sharing and providing pictures... they definitely pulled at my heart strings!

I'm also the same way with animals, especially cats. I feel as if I was one in past lives ;)

Thanks guys :3

i`m not exactly a good story teller, it`s just what it is. Wouldn`t really say "compassion". For me it`s just a natural thing. I wonder how some people remain hermetic to this little fellows and think:
Someone`s gonna pay me for this? No... Does it help me with my studies? No....Will a tree of handpans grow in my room? No... Will i sleep better at night? Surely not!.. or just "i don`t give a crap"

It was really sad at my job, yesterday, when i shared the story with my "pals", and asked them if they wanted a kitty for adoption.... Boy, you won`t imagine the kind of answers i received :? or the opinions of what would they have done in my situation. Won`t give details but it was really... pathetic. Categorically.

I hope this pics brought a smile to your faces
Love that line Colin-

Of kindness and of love." William Wordsworth

Thanks!

I've also "saved" cats many times and I understand your feeling!
:-)
When the time to find a new home for the kittens will come, here's my suggestion.
Find a nice vet that people trust and has many many people bringing pets to him/her; convince him/her to let you bring the kittens in the surgery for one afternoon so that someone will see them and adopt them. It works!! :-)
