Sanka - you will build wonderful handpans, because you will put in the time and study - and your pans will have soul.

thx mate and yes they will have soul, my next trip in the following months will be to go to birmingham to study tuning from a life long steel pan maker from trinidad, go right back to the basics. This will give me the ability to further my skills, depending in how the year turns out I might even try to go to russia to take a glimps at how victor does his thing, I have decided this will be my year of learning....it takes time to master perfection

About negative responses to panning... My mom heard me trying to figure out isolated harmonics on my pan and after about half an hour she said "that's a bit of a boring and repetative piece of music, isn't it?" - Kinda put me off my game for a bit. Nothing more serious, so far. ;)

Good luck with your project, and let us know how you're getting on! (and post videos!)

Haha - I would have loved to hear her thoughts if she heard me working on my altissimo (very high notes) on the alto sax way back in university!

Love it!
